Computer Problems? We can HELP!

Even if you are running Microsoft Windows and are getting tired of the battle General Techniques can help, but to be truthful General Techniques does specialize in working with UNIX and LINUX. LINUX can perform most of the things that Windows does, without many of the licensing issues that Windows programs have. Licensing for most LINUX application is a lot more liberal than similar applications that run under Windows, in fact the license for LINUX and its application gives you the right to copy or freely distribute the software.

The important thing to remember is that the computer is only a tool, a means to an end. You really don't care what software runs on that computer, or for matter, whether you are using a computer in the first place, so long as job gets done. General Techniques can help you evaluate whether LINUX applications can get your job done. There are still many software applications that do not run under LINUX or for that matter their LINUX equivalent many not be as good as what may be available elsewhere.

What good is a free application under any operating systems compared to a reasonably priced commercial application that gets your job done in half the time. General Techniques can help you make that decision.

General Techniques provides services, such as mail hosting, system and network administration and system integration predominantly for LINUX and UNIX based environments. General Techniques can also help you implement Voice Over MP solutions for you office.

Having problems with your website? We can look at your website and check to make sure that it functions properly. Simple things that can reflect badly on your company are simple to look for and correct are grammar, scalability and making sure that the links that you include, work.

If your customer cannot read your website, then you might as well not have put up a website. When we look at your website we look at it from the point of view of some one who has bad eyesite. We zoom the text to see how well it scales and can be read. Also we look to see happens to other elements on your page, to see how they handle being zoomed in. We also look for colour combinations to see if they can easily be read. Dark blue on black or Red on black are not good colour combinations. Neither is light blue or gray on white. Remember it is the purpose of your website to impart a statement to the reader, not to make a fashion statement.

We do not create websites, for a properly designed website the services of experienced Graphic Artist should be employed. We can work with any Graphic Artist to make you a better website. But remember, the importance of a website is to impart a message.

If you are going to have a website, be prepared to spend the time, money and effort to have a good and valuable one. A good website will generate sales for your company and good will for your organization. When you realize that the website has generated a new sale that you have not gotten otherwise, or find out that somebody has contacted you about the message that your site has put out, then the value of a good updated web site will show it's true value.
